A Wonderful Day in OKC

The Monday before Christmas we took Nate to OKC for various activities. We started our day at the mall ( I do not recommend going to a mall the week of Christmas), then we went to meet Santa at Bass Pro (yes, he LOVES Bass Pro). They had the most amazing setup. They had game stations where the kids could fish, shoot bow and arrows and speed race cars.

Thankfully the photographer was paying more attention than me and re-shot his photo with Santa!

Next on the list was sledding. Nate had been looking forward to sledding for weeks. Our plan was to be at the ball stadium for the 2 pm sled run; apparently a ton of people had the same idea. We were not able to attend the 2 pm run so we purchased our tickets for the 4 pm run. This gave us a two hour window to find something to do. Hmmmmm, I know, let's take the downtown trolley to the ice skating rink (okay, it was actually Sean's brilliant idea)! Nate LOVED the trolley ride. Ice skating was out since we are a vertically challenged family. Nate had a grand time playing in the "snow" piles (the Zamboni would make dumps around the rink).

We finally made it back to the ball stadium for our sledding. It was AWESOME!

On the way home we drove through the light show in Chickasha. Nate managed to stay awake until the very end.

Winter Wonderland!

In all the years we have lived in Lawton, I have never seen snow fall like it did on Christmas Eve. Sure, every year we get a ton of ice that makes driving impossible but this year we got the white fluffy stuff! We finally had a white Christmas!

Nate got stuck in a snow drift.

Ginger Bread House

One day as we were shopping at Walmart, Nate saw a prefab gingerbread house. He really wanted to build one. So, into the shopping cart it went. We had a blast assembling and decorating the house. I think this will become a new Christmas tradition.

Christmas Arts and Crafts

This year we decided to do a few homemade Christmas crafts. Nate is now old enough to really get into it. We had a great time working on them!

Our version of snowmen

Nate did great with the glue!

Our snowmen garland.

Christmas Tree Decorating!

Two weeks ago we put up our Christmas tree. We were not sure how Nate would do with decorating. Last year he was done after about five ornaments. I am happy to report he was still going strong after Sean and I were done! He LOVED decorating the tree. We normally take the tree down shortly after Christmas but I have a feeling he will make us keep it up longer this year.

Setting up the tree. Ella was a great helper as well!

He had a blast hiding in the storage container.

Look mom, I'm not eating the tree.

One for the tree, one for me.

Hanging Christmas Lights with Dad

At the end of last month, Nate and Sean hung up our Christmas lights. I am sure he is glad he did it then seeing as the temperature outside these days hovers around the 30's!

My two favorite people

So adorable

Taking a break to love on Ella

Dad, I'm a great helper!

He did awesome helping dad!

Happy Birthday Sean

Last Wednesday was Sean's birthday. We celebrated with family and friends. Nate did an awesome job "helping" dad blow out his candles. Happy Birthday Sean! You are an amazing husband and father and I am so lucky to have you in my life. I love you!

Good lord, we are truly a Sonic family!

My Husband Rocks!

I have the most amazing, creative husband! He made this snowman for the front of the house and rigged a light to illuminate it. Thank you my love, you are truly a remarkable man and I appreciate everything you do!

2nd Soccer season has come to an end

Last Saturday marked the end of Nate's second soccer season. I must say, he did remarkably better this time around. I think it helped that Dad was the assistant coach.

He was very excited to get a trophy!

Oklahoma City Zoo

Last Thursday I had to go to the city to pick up my best friend Bonnie. The original plan was for Sean to keep Nate at home and we were going to hang out in the city and gamble the night away. Sean got called in for overtime and extra money for the holiday's always wins. I loaded Nate up and decided to head out a little early so we could stop by the OKC Zoo. We had a blast. It was by far the best Zoo visit we have ever had. The animals were a riot! One of the lions stalked Nate (thankfully behind the glass) and one of the monkeys kept waving to us! It was awesome!!! After the zoo we stopped by Barnes and Noble ( my favorite store) and picked up a few new workbooks. Nate was excited to get new maze books.

The lion followed Nate all over the glass! I think he was hungry.

Nate picked out this mask and proceeded to roar at everyone! The patrons at Barnes and Noble were not impressed.

Every time we go to the zoo we take a picture of Nate on this statue. When we got close to it he ran up, sat down and said "Mom, take my picture"!

Winston's visit

About two weeks ago our friend Winston came to spend a few days with us. His mom had a beautiful baby girl and had to stay in the hospital for awhile. We did a ton of arts and crafts to keep the boys entertained! I realize now that I truly do not want anymore children! One is definitely enough!!! Kuddos to all of you that have more, you are my hero!

The boys made bird feeders

I bundled them up so they could play outside.

We made sugar cookies and cut out Christmas designs and frosted them.
