4th of July concert with Tim Mcgraw

Fort Sill held their annual 4th of July celebration with this year's performer Tim McGraw and tons of fireworks! We try to attend this every year! Nate has not been a big fan of fireworks in the past. We thought this year, with our new friend earplugs, would be a success. We thought wrong! Here are some pictures of our evening!

We decided to use the public bus system to take us to the event (we parked in general parking on post about 3 miles from the event). We will never make that mistake again! Getting to the concert was a piece of cake, leaving the concert was a disaster! I ended up calling my sister Joni (who was smart enough to bring her own car) to pick me up so I could grab the truck and pick up the rest of the family. Thank you Joni! You were truly a lifesaver!

Waiting in the very, very , very long entrance line.

Thankfully we had friends that got there early and reserved us a spot on the grass!

Nate taking it all in.

Nanny and Nate bonding time.

Then the fireworks started..............................

Little man absolutely freaked out. We ended up taking him to an area between two Budweiser trucks. It seemed to help muffle the blasts. He did stop crying and enjoyed the fireworks.........until the finale..................

Unfortunately, we did not have the option of leaving as we had no vehicle. Thankfully, he was not too traumatized. When we were in the truck on the way home he proclaimed, "I really liked the fireworks, can we see some more?" Sorry little man, we will plan better next year and have an escape vehicle ready!

  1. Charli flipped out with the fireworks too and we had lame ones at our house. She didn't even like the sparklers.

  3. Meadow and Lily actually liked them. We did them at my mom's house though, so they were probably smaller and quieter than yours. I bet that was a great concert! If we weren't going out of town we would have gone too.

  4. we were at the concert too! We started walking when the fireworks started. We parked at the elementary school on Geronimo and so thankful. The lines for the buses looked insane. The walk to the school was easy as pie...just a heads up for next year!!!
