Armed Forces Day Parade

Yesterday was Lawton's Armed Forces Parade. We LOVE this parade and look forward to it every year. This year it was a very wet and cold parade!

More than 2800 soldiers participated in the parade! It was amazing too see.

Nate did an awesome job clapping and waving to everyone!

The loot was by far his favorite part of the parade!

Only in Oklahoma do they hand out Miller Lite bead necklaces to children! Apparently they like to promote drinking early.

A few of the participants were loud and I completely forgot our earplugs. Dad's hands made a handy substitution!

The Lingering Virus

Nate and I are still quarantined! This morning I decided to call the doctor. Nate is doing much better although he still has a runny nose and a cough. I on the other hand am getting worse! Poor Sean is now showing the beginning signs of the virus as well. Nate has had way to much television viewing this week! Oh well, this too shall pass.

Nate heard me call the doctor and make an appointment to be seen. The next thing I know, he is running out of the room. I am thinking, what in Pete's sake is this kid doing. He ran back into the living room with his Mickey Mouse doctor bag! He proceeded to take my temperature, do a reflex text, give me a shot and take my blood pressure! It was absolutely precious! At the end of his exam he stated "Mom, I'm a good doctor! Now you don't have to go to the other doctor"!

***UPDATE*** We just got back from the doctors. It started as a virus but mine has now moved into a sinus infection. YAHOO medication!

Learning to Count is FUN!

Nate and I have been working on our numbers. He is really good at counting to 20! Unfortunately, anything over 20 is a struggle. So, in an effort to increase our number count we made a Cheerio necklace! I firmly believe that children learn through play and fun!!!!! Yes, we have workbooks that we use, but we normally make a game out of the pages we are working on. Sorry, I digress! Nate was eating a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast and I thought, HMMM, how can I get him to count the cheerios? Let's make a necklace! Yes, my young son loves jewelry so it was the perfect fit for him :) As I was describing to Nate what we were going to do and getting the supplies in order he says "Mom, you know all the coolest stuff". AWWWW, one of the best moments of this mothers life!

I think Nate's favorite part was eating the necklace! Works for me, we can always count out 50 more cheerios for another!

Oklahoma Storms!

Wednesday evening, Chicken Little once again interrupted broadcasting with a doom and gloom report! A large thunderstorm was north of our little town reeking havoc. It was slow moving but packed quite a punch. Of course being the neurotic girl I am when it comes to bad weather, I was glued to the TV (really, some anxiety medicine is needed)! Three hours into Chicken's reporting, Lawton had yet to receive any rain, hail, etc. Finally around 12:40 AM the storm hit Lawton. I of course was still awake when the hail began to pound our house but it was so loud it woke Sean . We had golf ball size hail smacking us for about 5 minutes. Some of our friends had hail up to the size of baseballs! Here is a picture of the larger hail courtesy of our friend Jenn........

Thankfully we had no vehicle or home damage!

Meet our New Princess!

Sorry the picture is so grainy (I took a photo of my laptop image).

Meet Ella (if I have my way.........we are still debating names). She will be joining our family on May 28th. She is still to young to bring home! Ella is a full blooded beagle puppy and is absolutely adorable! We are so excited about her arrival. Nate and I are picking out a collar and leash and a lovely dog bowl for her! I am sure you will be seeing lots of photos of our little princess in the future.

A Virus Has Struck Again

Nate had a runny nose on Tuesday and we thought it was just his allergies acting up. Wrong! It was some kind of funky virus. Thankfully, everyone we were around on Tuesday did not get the bug (except for me). So now it is Thursday and we are still stuck in the house. We are both doing better and hopefully will make it back out into the world by this weekend!

Mom, When's Dad Coming Home?

Tuesday afternoon, Nate's poor little nose started running. He was not feeling well after he woke up from his nap. Usually when Nate wakes up from his nap, his dad is home from work. On Tuesday, Sean was late coming home. Nate did not like this one bit! After about 20 minutes of waiting, he pulled up his little green chair next to the door and proclaimed "Mom, I am going to wait here and watch for my dad to come home"! It was the saddest thing I have seen in a very long time. I asked him if he wanted to play a game to pass the time in which he answered "No, I am going to wait for my dad"!
